As a youth council, we organised a diverse weekend in Glücksburg that offered both educational and leisure experiences. With the support of Prokon eG, we put together a programme for around 15 young people, which introduced participants to the topic of climate protection in more depth.
During the weekend, we explored the artefact Climate Park, where at numerous stations, the basic knowledge about renewable energies was refreshed. A simulation game on sustainable neighbourhood development put us in the shoes of decision-makers and we pondered what the more efficient way to heat neighbourhoods would be in 2040 - biogas or electricity? Additionally, we crafted small figures powered by mini solar panels.
To ensure a bit of holiday feeling alongside the insightful activities, we also undertook activities such as a walk along the Baltic Sea and a nighttime guided tour with torches through Glücksburg Castle. This allowed the participants from many countries to get to know each other well.
We from the Youth Council are very happy with this weekend full of learning and fun, and hope that we have raised awareness among some young people for the opportunities that renewable energies offer us, and how they can be actively involved in shaping them. The next youth weekend will surely follow. If you have also become interested in getting involved in the environment and Renewable Energies and are aged between 15-25, then please feel free to contact us at jugend@prokon-beirat.net!
