Windpark Oldendorf

The Oldendorf Wind Park is a special wind park in Prokon's approximately 30-year history. It is distinguished not only by its media coverage throughout the entire construction phase, but above all by its proximity to the Prokon headquarters in the Itzehoer InnoQuarter. Over just about two kilometers as the crow flies, employees have a direct view of the two wind turbines, which theoretically supply about 345 households in the vicinity. The Oldendorf Wind Park thus symbolises the close connection between Prokon and the local community, as well as sustainable energy generation.

In 7 steps to the finished Oldendorf wind farm

In the video, you will learn how the Oldendorf wind farm was created step by step.

Step 1

Applications, discussions and approvals

Before a wind turbine can be built, applications must be submitted, discussions held, and approvals obtained. We have naturally carried out all of these tasks personally for the Oldendorf Wind Farm.

Step 2

Where there is a will, a way is needed

In the construction of wind farms, a fortified access road is important to provide support and space for construction vehicles to reach the locations where the wind turbines are meant to be installed later. Especially when the large components arrive.

Step 3

Before it goes up, it must be built down.

Before the concrete for the foundation could be poured, a so-called "reinforcement" had to be prepared. The many steel reinforcements were stacked on top of each other and connected together.

Step 4

Wildlife protection and compensation measures

During the construction of the Oldendorf wind farm, special attention was paid to species protection and the necessary compensation measures to ensure that the local fauna is impacted as little as possible.

Step 5

Assemble puzzle pieces

The huge puzzle pieces of the wind turbines were now lifted into the correct position and bolted quickly and precisely in a carefully planned sequence using a crane.

Step 6

The facility is ready

On a beautiful winter morning, the assembly work on the two wind turbines in the Oldendorf wind farm was completed. Both Vestas turbines, each with 4.2 MW, finally entered the technical trial operation.

Step 7

Finished! Now it will get greener

Although the strong wind conditions in November 2020 caused delays in construction, the two wind turbines in the Oldendorf wind farm were able to be connected to the grid as planned by the end of 2020.
