Advisory Board Election 2026: Results are Final

The members of Prokon Regenerative Energien eG have voted on the composition of its five Regional Advisory Boards. The election ended on 25 October 2026. In all five regions, the teams standing for election were elected. More than 500 members took part in the vote. The formal acceptance of the election results and the constitution of the new advisory boards are now pending.

In the five regions North, East, South-East, South-West and West, a team of committed members stood for election in each case. The rules governing the advisory boards generally provide for several teams to stand in each region. As this was not the case in this year’s election, members were able either to express their approval of the respective team or to abstain.

A total of 526 votes were cast. Participation was therefore below the level of the previous Advisory Board election in 2023. “Of course, we would have wished for more members to take part in the election,” says Prokon Board member Katharina Beyer. “At the same time, we are pleased that in all five regions members were found who are willing to take on voluntary responsibility for our cooperative. We extend our sincere thanks to them.”

With around 42,000 members living all across Germany, Prokon is a large and diverse cooperative. The regional advisory boards help bridge geographical distances and bring different perspectives from the membership into dialogue with the Board.

Tasks and significance of the regional advisory boards

The Regional Advisory Boards have an advisory and supportive function. As points of contact in the regions, they gather suggestions and views from the membership and can make recommendations to the Management Board. In doing so, they complement the cooperative structures without interfering with the responsibilities and duties of the Management Board and Supervisory Board.

That many members value this form of participation was also shown by the member survey in spring 2026. In the representative telephone survey, 71 per cent of respondents rated the Regional Advisory Boards as very or fairly important. Among the specific organisational forms asked about, the election of regional teams received the strongest approval. At the same time, it became clear that many members still know little about the work of their advisory boards.

“This is where we want to start together with the new advisory boards,” explains Katharina Beyer. “We want to make their tasks and commitment more visible and strengthen contact with members. The better members know what the advisory boards do and how they can get involved, the more this voluntary commitment can achieve for our cooperative.”

The new advisory board members are starting their work

After the election, the formal acceptance by the candidates is now the first step. The new advisory board teams will already meet for a joint gathering in Fulda on 6 November. There, the foundations are to be laid for working with the Management Board over the coming three-year term.

The meeting also offers an opportunity to exchange views on the duties of the advisory boards, the experience gained from previous advisory board work, and future cooperation. The question of how advisory board work and its organisational framework can be further developed also has its place in these joint discussions between the advisory boards and the Management Board — both at this meeting and over the course of the term.

Our members will find out who will be involved in the Regional Advisory Boards in the next issue of our Käthe & Paul magazine.

We congratulate all elected advisory board members and wish them a successful start to their new term.
