Listening to 40,000 Members

Who says that a career path must always lead straight ahead? Ute Sahm, born 51 years ago in Berlin, trained as a carpenter, worked with wood for a few years, then did a commercial apprenticeship, was a sales consultant, and joined Prokon 20 years ago as a team assistant. Today, Ute Sahm is the head of member services, managing a team of ten employees and office dog Lara. "We are the face, the voice, the ear for our almost 40,000 members," says the passionate motorcyclist, and for those who listen closely, even after 30 years in Northern Germany, you can still hear her Berlin dialect.

We are happy to come to work

Far above 20,000 calls are taken by her and her team each year, about 15,000 written inquiries are answered. In addition, around 30,000 administrative processes are handled. Typical questions are "When will I receive the dividend payout?", "Why is there a different amount on my account statement than on my member statement", but also "Can I transfer my membership to my children?". Everything is answered in a friendly, patient, and competent manner. The communication team of member support also manages the telephone service for Prokon Strom's customers and prospects. "We are not just called a team, we are a team," praises Ute Sahm the collaboration. Many employees have been there for a long time, also assisting customers and investors during the difficult years of insolvency, and therefore bring a lot of knowledge and expertise.

"We are happy to take care of the concerns of our members," says Ute Sahm, "we enjoy it, we like to come to work." And when things really heat up, office dog Lara, team member number 11, a French Bulldog with an indestructibly good mood, brightens the mood. The animal lover - in the Sahm household live a dog, cat, birds, and fish - has set ambitious goals for herself and her team: "We want to react even more directly to service requests, want to make our information even more understandable and create more transparency about the participation." Ute Sahm is never satisfied with what has been achieved: "Our motto is: Standing still is going backwards.".
