With over 41,000 members, we are one of Germany’s largest energy cooperatives and, first and foremost, a producer of climate-neutral electricity from Germany. Our wind and PV plants, with an installed capacity of 1,075 MW, belong to our members. We operate our plants ourselves and generate electricity exclusively from renewable energy sources.
This is part of our mission: we invest our profits in the construction of new wind and solar parks – including storage systems. In this way, we actively contribute to ensuring that an increasing share of electricity in Germany is produced from renewable energy.

Many energy suppliers offer sustainable electricity that they do not generate themselves. They simply buy the electricity on the market, add European guarantees of origin to it as well (which they also purchase), and then resell the electricity to you as “green electricity”. This is legally permissible — but it has little to do with genuine responsibility for electricity generation. Nor does it help to drive the expansion of renewable energy in Germany. That is exactly where our climate-neutral electricity from Germany comes in: with genuine generation from our own facilities.

The electricity for our private and business customers currently comes from six of our total 59 wind farms in Germany.
Specifically, our electricity comes from the following wind farms in Germany:
Dammfleth (Schleswig-Holstein)
Eilsleben (Sachsen-Anhalt)
Glienicke (Brandenburg)
Buckow Nord (Brandenburg)
Buckow Süd (Brandenburg)
Podelzig-Lebus (Brandenburg)
The electricity from our total of 59 wind farms in Germany can be marketed in different ways:
Under the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG), we can receive a fixed feed-in tariff for the electricity generated by an installation for a period of 20 years. If we choose this option, however, we may not market the electricity ourselves as green electricity.
The alternative is marketing without a feed-in tariff: if we choose this option, we can sell the wind power directly to large companies, commercial customers or private customers. Generation, marketing and supply of our customers with our climate-neutral electricity from Germany are therefore in the hands of our cooperative.
With our climate-neutral electricity from Germany, we follow a clear principle:
Over the course of the year, we feed at least as much electricity into the grid from our own plants as our customers consume. Generation and consumption are directly linked on a balancing basis.
Of course, there are hours with plenty of wind and hours with low generation. That is part of the reality of renewable energy. In periods of shortfall, we balance out the missing volumes via the market. This ensures that our customers are reliably supplied at all times. The renewable electricity certificates for our Prokon wind power, however, come exclusively from our own plants in Germany.
