Käthe & Paul – the magazine from Prokon

With ‘Käthe & Paul’, we have reimagined our magazine format and given it a clear, personal Prokon identity. Since the retirement of the Prokon Journal, the new magazine has been firmly embedded in our communications.

As a platform for members, interested parties and partners, ‘Käthe & Paul’ combines current insights from the cooperative with topics relating to energy, sustainability and the further development of Prokon. It tells stories from our day-to-day work, puts developments into context and makes visible what moves us as a cooperative. In this way, a classic members’ magazine has become a modern companion that reflects Prokon today and tomorrow.

Why actually ‘Käthe and Paul’?

Some of our members may still remember: Käthe and Paul – those were the names of the first two wind turbines that marked the beginning of Prokon’s story over 30 years ago. Despite what the names might suggest, they were not our founder and co-founder. Rather, Käthe and Paul stood in a garden – more precisely, in the garden of Prokon’s founder, who became actively involved in the 1990s to help advance the energy transition.

Fun fact: With an output of just 110 kW each, these two pioneers were, of course, still a far cry from today’s high-tech turbines. In 2015, after many years of loyal service, Käthe and Paul were finally retired – via a professional decommissioning process.
